Having oily, acne-prone skin made me believe for years that my face needed the strongest cleanser possible. I used to chase that super squeaky-clean feeling after washing, only to end up with even more oil and irritation later in the day.
After trying different products, I realized my skin actually behaves better when it feels balanced instead of stripped.
1. Naturium Niacinamide Cleansing Gelée 3% Cleanser
This has easily become one of my favorite everyday cleansers lately. The texture feels lightweight and refreshing, and once it mixes with water, it creates a soft foam that cleans the skin really nicely without feeling harsh. What I personally love most is how fresh my skin feels afterward. My face feels clean, but not squeaky or tight. Since it contains niacinamide, I also like that it helps support my skin while dealing with post-acne marks and uneven tone at the same time. It’s the kind of cleanser that works especially well when my skin feels oily but still slightly dehydrated underneath.
La Roche-Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser
This cleanser is one I always recommend to people who have oily skin but also struggle with sensitivity. It foams beautifully and removes excess oil effectively, yet somehow still feels gentle on the skin. I also appreciate that it contains hydrating ingredients like glycerin, because oily skin still needs moisture. Whenever cleansers dry my skin out too much, my face usually becomes even oilier afterward trying to compensate. This one keeps my skin feeling balanced instead of stripped.
The best cleansers are the ones that quietly keep everything balanced — less irritation, less excess oil, and fewer moments where my skin feels like it’s fighting against me.
